How Long To Beat AC Odyssey Main Story And Completion Estimates

Embarking on a journey through ancient Greece in Assassin's Creed Odyssey requires a significant investment of time due to its massive world map and deep role-playing mechanics. Players often wonder how much time they need to set aside to experience the central story versus fully exploring every island and hidden location. Understanding these completion estimates helps gamers plan their playthroughs based on their individual playstyles and available free time.

Main Story Playtime Estimates

For players focusing strictly on the primary campaign, completing the main story typically takes around 45 to 60 hours. Because specific story quests are gated by character level requirements, players must naturally complete some side content to keep up with the progression curve. This prevents rushing straight through the narrative, ensuring that even direct playthroughs experience a mix of core narrative beats and tactical leveling.

Main Quests Plus Side Content

Expanding your playthrough to include major side quests, character arcs, and regional storylines brings the average playtime to between 80 and 100 hours. Engaging with these additional quests provides valuable gear and unlocks deeper narrative encounters, including battles with mythical creatures. Most players find this balanced approach offers the best mix of story engagement and open-world exploration without feeling overwhelming.

100 Percent Completionist Requirements

Achieving total completion in Assassin's Creed Odyssey demands a serious commitment, often requiring 130 to 160 hours of total gameplay. Completionists must hunt down every member of the Cult of Kosmos, synchronize all viewpoints, clear every military fort, and discover all hidden locations scattered across the Aegean Sea. Impact of DLC Expansions on Playtime

Adding the major downloadable expansion packs significantly extends the overall length of the adventure. Story arcs like Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis collectively add another 25 to 40 hours of content. When factoring in both story expansions and all optional side activities, dedicated players can easily spend over 180 hours fully mastering every chapter of the game.
